March 2021 - Gabrielle Hayduk-Costa (PGY4, Physical Medicine & Rehab)

Maritime Resident Doctors is pleased to announce Dr. Gabrielle Hayduk-Costa, a PGY4 in Physical Medicine & Rehab, is our latest Resident of the Month.

Our Resident of the Month award aims to improve resident well-being by recognizing and rewarding resident colleagues with exceptional achievements while maintaining a work-life balance. The criteria includes academic accomplishments, research activities, social events, family life, community involvement, humanitarian service, leadership, and more.

Dr. Hayduk-Costa was nominated by her peers.

"She is the type of resident we aspire to be," he nomination says. "She’s conscientious, intelligent, and a genuine pleasure to be around. She’s passionate about teaching and that shows in the quality of her teaching sessions at our half days and informal teaching with residents and medical students. She consistently works to improve the quality of our academic half day sessions and utilizes strategies she is learning from her Master’s program so that we all benefit."

Her nomination also outlines that she advocates on behalf of her colleagues to ensure educational goals are met during core rotations, while continually looking for ways to improve the experience.

"We can always count on Gab to motivate us to go to MarDocs events (particularly yoga and evolve boot camps). She manages to balance the high demands of her academic life with being a thoughtful friend, being physically active, and getting lost in a good book."

As the winner of this award, Dr. Hayduk-Costa will receive a $100 gift card.

Congratulations from everyone at Maritime Resident Doctors on winning this award.

There is literally almost nothing she cannot help you with – from navigating department policy to helping you find a research supervisor to discovering the best hidden gems the city of Halifax has to offer. And if she isn’t sure exactly how to assist, she will help you figure out your next steps and walk beside you as you navigate any challenge of residency training."

As the winner of this award, Dr. LeBlanc will receive a $100 gift card.

Congratulations from everyone at Maritime Resident Doctors on winning this award.
